Despicable Me 3 is a fun 90 minute caper back in the world of Gru and his girls.
At times it feels like there is simultaneously too much and too little going on, with not enough attention given to any of the subplots; although thankfully this prevents too much screen time for the Minions. (The aggressive merchandising of them proving that yes, you can have too much of a good thing.)
That being said, there are good jokes and laugh out loud moments, so I don’t feel my time watching it was wasted. Overall, it’s a fun romp, but ultimately lacks the emotional heart which made the first film so good.
